Paris Based Birthworker

A story written over a lifetime of witnessing, learning, and unlearning.
I am Charlotte Brielle, a full-spectrum doula, perinatal social worker, educator, speaker, and the founder of Wombs of the World—a project and a movement dedicated to improving maternal health, uplifting birthworkers, and preserving ancestral knowledge.
My journey into cultural studies, human connection, and systems of care began long before I stepped into birthwork. When I was four years old, my family moved from Colorado to Paris. For ten formative years, I experienced what it means to be a "third culture kid"—navigating a space where I was both insider and outsider, fluent in a world that wasn’t quite mine but felt like home.
Reentry into the U.S. was harder than I expected. I did not realize I was American—I thought of myself as not just French, but Parisian. That experience shaped me profoundly. It fueled my fascination with culture, identity, and belonging, and it’s what led me to study anthropology, sociology, and social work—to better understand the systems that shape us, the ways we are conditioned to move through the world, and how we can rewrite those narratives.
What I’ve learned is this: there is no universal truth—except for birth and death.
Everything else—how we define family, how we treat birthing people, how we structure care—is made up. And that means we have the power to change it. That realization is what fuels my work today: a belief that culture can be shifted, birth experiences can be transformed, and systemic change is possible—anywhere in the world.
Birth as Resistance. Birth as Revolution.
My work has always been about more than birth itself. It is about justice, dignity, and reclaiming what has been systematically erased.
Birth is inherently political. The history of midwifery, medical colonization, and reproductive oppression tells us that controlling birth has always been a tool of power. I work to shift that narrative—to center the voices of birthing people, to restore traditional knowledge, and to insist on birth as an act of autonomy and liberation.
This is why I mentor new birthworkers. This is why I teach. This is why I speak. This is why I create spaces—whether in person or online—where we can reimagine what birth could look like and reclaim birth as a sacred, powerful, and community-driven experience.
My Offerings in Paris & Beyond
Now, as I return to Paris in this new chapter of my life, my work continues to evolve. Whether you're an expat parent preparing for birth, a birthworker seeking mentorship, or a community looking for a speaker who will challenge, inspire, and ignite, I am here to hold space.
~Doula Care – For pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, with a deep focus on emotional and practical support.
~ Mentorship & Education – For birthworkers, parents, and anyone called to this work.

My work is ever-expanding, but it always returns to the same truth: birth is powerful, and how we birth shapes the world.
